Open Source E-Learning Applications are software systems that

  1. Facilitate or support teaching and learning in an online setting, and
  2. Are made available under a license that enables any individual or institution freely to review and/or modify the application's underlying source and to re-package and re-distribute that derivative code to anyone (or any other institution) with whom they might wish to share it.
